Project Post Mortem
This project was a direct look into my own abilitiy to be creative and also deepen my understanding of how to make blueprints within UE5. I learned a lot of what I was good at but also what I wasn't up to the standards I wanted to be.
What Worked:
-
Successfully adapted the mechanic to feel natural.
-
Prototype clearly demonstrated the mechanic’s impact on gameplay.
-
Iterative process improved clarity, engagement and balance.
Challenges:
-
Balancing the novelty of the mechanic with player understanding.
-
Scaling difficulty to match skill progression.
-
Time constraints limited polish and accessibility features.
Key Takeaways:
-
Gained practical experience in cross-genre design and prototyping.
-
Learned the importance of feedback, iteration and clear player communication.
-
Developed stronger problem-solving and creative design skills for future projects.
Future Improvements:
-
Refine mechanics based on player feedback.
-
Add expanded accessibility options.
-
Explore complementary mechanics to deepen gameplay.
